When the Swarthmore Senior Citizens Association moved from a small storefront space to two rooms at the Swarthmore United Methodist Church in the fall of 2019, SSCA approached SIA to envision new lighting and seating to support goals providing an adaptable space for a wide range of weekly activities and being a welcoming spot for all ages. A key concern was to address the inaccessibility of the Parlor room. SIA provided schematic design services for these elements. While the implementation of the interior finish elements was halted due to the pandemic in early 2020, SSCA and SUMC were able to take advantage of the downtime in occupancy and built a new ramp to make the Parlor room accessible to wheelchair users.
